New HUMANity versions coming soon

As you may have read unity-linux has been through many large changes, one of these has been changing over to using the mandriva cooker repo, this has involved quite alot of time and work for the unity-linux devs who work very hard.
Unity-linux has packaged a new version of e17 in January this year(2012). At present we are waiting on kernel 3.2.6-1.1 and some minor fixes, then hopefully some new iso’s will be available for you to download, also I am pleased to announce that Agust has made another beautiful unity-linux e17 theme.
I would also like to thank the enlightenment e17 team for all there work developing enlightenment and their help, especially one person who recently helped me greatly, you know who you are this helps me to get e17 pkgs updated easier an quicker.
Here is a screenshot of Agust’s new unity-linux theme, on a new test version of HUMANity i586.

Some apps on the new test HUMANityi586 cooker repo based iso with kernel 3.2.6 include,
mypaint, gimp, mtpaint, gtkam, ephoto, viewnior, abiword, Gcalc,

catfish, firefox, midori, bluefish, pidgin, thunderbird, transmission, tightvnc, smplayer,

xmms, scribus, xvidcap, ecire, an a few games, glchess aisleriot, armagetron

it also features the newer Places module, which no longer uses hal.
This iso will fit on a cd as it is under 700mb
It uses the usual unity-linux login passwords.
root account, name=root password=root
guest account, name=guest password=guest

The new HUMANity iso’s are based on the unity-linux 2011 alpha2 iso, which has now just been officially released.

The Enlightenment version is from enlightenment’s svn, taken mid August 2011, special thanks to gianvacca for the enlightenment rpm’s.

This new version has the network manager added to the systray which should especially be helpful for people setting up their laptop’s wireless connection.

A new very attractive Unity theme has been made by Agust.
Special thanks to Agust for his wonderful enlightenment themes, and help, thanks also go to the unity-linux team for such a good base for HUMANity and their continued work.

Update: The New HUMANity 32 bit and 64 bit iso’s are now on the unity-linux mirrors, here are the links.

I have just uploaded a new HUMANity 64 bit mini version, it has a similar look to the musicians and mini 32 bit editions. It is approximately 405mb in size, and has the Unity rpm 5.3 update.

Hi April 2011 Humanity mini edition and musicians edition are uploaded, with enlightenment revision 57545.
The mini edition is Unity-linux with enlightenment e17 installed and Ecomorph with a couple of themes, so intended for you to add what ever apps you like, using the Smart manager to install them, the iso size is around 454mb.

A new 2011 Humanity e17 32bit and 64bit version is now availabe in the unity-linux repositories, based on the new Unity-linux 2011Alpha iso, it has similar apps to the previous versions, also the new enlightenment EFL 1.0 core files have just been released, these should be availabe to download very soon using Smart manager.

Hi I have a new HUminity 32 bit version which has the new e17 betas, its size is under 480mb, its has a good selection of e17 modules, which include forecasts, places, screenshot and ecomorph, etc, and has a small collection of apps, so is ready to be customised by any one who wants to install it.

Hi, I have uploaded to the Unity-linux repositories an updated Humanity e17 ecomorph, this version has the new enlightenment beta files.
Special thanks to M Dawkins for his e17 beta pkgs an to Agust for his great themes and for updating the themes to be compatible with the beta e17 version. Great work guys, and thank you very much for all your work. The iso size is just under 700mb

HUMANity and HUminity

These linux remasters are based on Unity-linux 2010.1 the final release version, they feature the Enlightenment desktop with Ecomorph installed with a beautiful theme especially made for HUMANity and HUminity by a wonderful theme creator named Agustin Jose Verdegal, thank you so very much Agust.

Using the Enlightenment desktop means that less resources are used than on some other desktop managers, eg: KDE and Gnome. Therefore its possible to have a really nice looking Enlightenment desktop running on a lower specification PC or older PC.

HUminity is a smaller version but this special version is dedicated to Agustin Jose Verdegal so many themes have been added, but it is a barebones version in other aspects.

HUMANity has at present three themes, and is named “HT-NG” after the Humanity Theme and the ng taskbar, it features quite a few apps, and a couple of games.

Update: I have added a new bootsplash and login screen which is a lighter blue version of the present theme and now have the new matching theme, thanks to Agust’s great work
I have also added a conky script to the new HUMANity I am working on with the option to have it autostart, and use transparency as a seperate autostart, these have to bee enabled in settings by the user if required. Update: using grellm now
Unity is a rolling distro so more updates have been added from the repository .
Good news at the end of August 2010 Unity-linux have packaged the latest alpha files from Enlightenment and used them with a new E17 Enlightenment and modules from Enlightenment’s svn.

Update: I have been working on a 64bit version, with the new Enlightenment Alpha files, as some people like the option of a 64bit OS.
A 64bit version of HUMANity is at this moment being uploaded to the repos, it features Agust’s Dark Unity theme but has several other of Agust’s Unity themes, this release is using the latest Enlightenment Alpha files and has been build using the new Unity pkgs thanks to mdawkins at Unity-linux.
